Sam Soverel, Michael Addamo, and Juan Dominguez Win Aria High Rollers
The 2019 WSOP continues to roll forward like a hyper-powered locomotive, but it is not the only thing going on in the poker world. In case you didn’t already know, the ARIA is hosting a slew of live poker tournaments, including numerous ARIA Summer High Roller Events.
Results come in a little slow for these events but the good folks over at ARIA released the winners of their three most recent events. Sam Soverel, Michael Addamo, and Juan Pardo Dominguez were among the winners.
Sam Soverel Wins $25K High Roller
The end of May brought another $25k High Roller at the ARIA. The event played out on May 30th and drew a field of 23 entries for a prize pool of $575,000. Only the final four players made the money in the event with Poker Central founder Cary Katz squeaking in for a $57k min-cash. Jacob Schindler finished third, good for $92,000.
David Peters and Sam Soverel played it out for the title, but Peters fell short of another high roller title. He settled for second place and $189,620. Sam Soverel walked away with the win and $235,880.
Michael Addamo Wins $10k High Roller
June 4th saw the first ARIA High Roller of the month with a $10k High Roller. The event drew a field of 34 entries for just a $340k prize pool. The top five players were paid with Barry Hutter earning $27,200. Australian Samuel Higgs finished fourth for $34k.
Rainer Kempe finished third in this event and added $54,400 to his bankroll, but you know that will be spent in other buy-ins before long. Manig Loeser and Michael Addamo battled it out for first with Loeser coming up short of the title. He earned $88,400 for second place.
Michael Addamo took down the win and the $136,000 top prize. It wouldn’t be the last score of the week for the Italian high roller.
Juan Pardo Dominguez Wins $10k High Roller
Thursday saw another $10k High Roller play out at the ARIA but this one drew a larger field of 45 entrants to create a prize pool of $450,000. This time around we saw seven players paid with Laurynas Levinskas taking a min-cash and Ali Imsirovic picking up a few more points towards the High Roller of the Year race by finishing sixth.
Patrick Leonard finished fifth while Dietrich Fast finished fourth. Michael Addamo made his second straight final table but fell short of another win. This time around, he finished third for $67,500. This left Matthais Eibinger and Juan Pardo Dominguez to battle for the title.
Eibinger has been dominant on the high roller circuit over the last couple of years, but he fell short of the victory in this one. He finished runner-up, earning $99k in the process. Juan Pardo Dominguez earned $153,000 for the win.
Sam Soverel Moves to Sixth in High Roller of the Year Race
The only person to make a significant move in the High Roller of the Year race recently was Sam Soverel. His victory in the $25k Aria High Roller on May 30th was enough to allow him to leapfrog up to sixth place. He now has 530 points and is in striking distance of the top five.
Of course, he still has a long way to go to catch Ali Imsirovic. Imsirovic scored a few points on Thursday to give him 885 points total and extend his lead over Sean Winter. Winter is now 195 points behind.
There are still a ton of ARIA Summer High Rollers to play out with one concluding on Friday and two more coming up next week. Also, don’t forget that the WSOP $25k PLO, $50,000 Poker Players Championship and the $100k NL High Roller all count towards the High Roller of the Year. There’s still plenty of poker to play and plenty of chances for players to catch Imsirovic.
