Renat Bohdanov Wins First Bracelet of 2019 WSOP Europe
The 2019 World Series of Poker Europe is in full swing and we know the first bracelet winner of the series. Ukraine’s Renat Bohdanov took down Event #1, the €350 Opener Event to win his first WSOP bracelet and a top prize of $59,392.
Also, in case you missed it, Poker Central has also announced that they will be live-streaming several events, including each day of the Main Event.
Renat Bohdanov Wins The Opener for First WSOP Bracelet
The first event of the 2019 WSOP-E kicked off on Sunday with the €350 Opener Event. A field of 1,011 players took to this event, creating a prize pool of €302,541. By the time the final table was reached, most were keeping an eye on Australia’s Jeff Lisandro.
Lisandro came into the final day as the short stack but more than capable of making a comeback. If he were able to do so, he would have won his seventh career WSOP bracelet. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to get anything going and ultimately fell in eighth place.
A couple of other notables were in the field. Rafi Elharar is best known for finishing third in the Big 50 at the 2019 WSOP in Las Vegas. This time around, he could only manage a seventh-place finish. WSOP Circuit ring winner Eyal Bensimhon was looking to win his first bracelet, but he only managed a third-place run.
At the start of heads-up play, Renat Bohdanov led Nobert Mosonyi by 5.5 million. The pair battled back and forth with both players taking the chip lead multiple times. When it mattered, Bohdanov ran better and in the final hand, he moved all-in with Ad-9s and was called by Kd-5d. Two aces on the board proved enough to give Bohdanov the hand, and his first WSOP bracelet.
Bohdanov only earned $59,392 for first due to the small buy-in of the event. However, he was able to secure one of the top prizes in all of professional poker. Also, both he and Mosonyi received automatic entries into the WSOP-E Main Event.
Poker Central to Live Stream WSOP Europe Events
On Monday, Poker Central announced that they have expanded their partnership with the World Series of Poker to include live streaming of WSOP Europe events on PokerGo. Live streaming of events began on Wednesday with the €250,000 Super High Roller and will include seven events.
The final streamed event will be the WSOP-E Main Event to kick off on October 27th. PokerGo will live steam the event starting with Day 2 and continue coverage all the way through to the final table. This is similar to the coverage they provided in Las Vegas during the WSOP Main Event. The main difference is that their coverage is exclusive.
According to WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart, “This expanded partnership with PokerGO to stream the WSOP Europe provides more continuity for our viewers along with even greater value for PokerGO subscribers. We look forward to working with Poker Central and King’s Resort to showcase the game’s best players as the quest for the WSOP Player of the Year reaches its climactic conclusion.”
One big difference in the live streaming coverage is that it will kick off much earlier than the standard live poker streaming event. All final table streams will kick off at 8 am EST in the United States. Most other event streams will kick off at 1 pm ET. It will be interesting to see how many poker fans will tune in for the earlier final tables. The hardcore fans and poker media are likely to watch, but many casual players and those that actually work jobs will probably miss most of the live stream.
