PokerStars Announced New Ambassadors and Streamers
If you’ve been following the world of poker sponsorship recently, you already know about the number of poker pros and online streamers that have left PokerStars. The company has been going in a different direction in the last year and turnover was expected.
On Wednesday, PokerStars sent out a press release announcing a group of new PokerStars Ambassadors along with a new group of PokerStars Streamers. These new faces are expected to tap into the recreational market further as the site focuses more on the everyday player as opposed to poker pros and regulars.
OP Poker Team and Big Brother Canada Contestant Among Newest Ambassadors
PokerStars sent out a press release announcing several new PokerStars Ambassadors. The first group the OP Poker Team. OP Poker is the home of the PokerStars Power Up community and a group of first adopters, gamers, streamers and more. OP Poker Team members Nick Walsh, Eva Reberc, and James Mackenzie all were announced as new PokerStars Ambassadors.
According to the press release, “As adopters of all new variants, the trio use their poker skills and understanding of the game to allow them to explore and discuss strategies required to conquer the innovation behind each new variant and stream this to their viewers. Each player is at a different level, providing content, conversation, and community at varying levels of ability on the OP Poker channel.”
The other new Ambassador signed was Big Brother Canada contestant Arlie Shaban. Shaban was introduced to the poker world in 2018 when he endured the “12 Labours of Arlie,” similar to the trials of Hercules. He conducted various tasks with poker legends over 15 weeks and ultimately was awarded a Platinum Pass into the PokerStars Players No-Limit Hold’em Championship.
According to Shaban, “PokerStars gave me some crazy stuff in 2018 when I didn’t even represent them. I can’t wait to tell my fans about what the Poker Gods have in store for us in 2019!”
PokerStars Signs Eight New PokerStars Streamers
In addition to new Ambassadors, PokerStars signed eight new PokerStars Streamers. They are listed below:
- Mason Pye (PyeFacePoker)
- Georgina James (GJReggie)
- Tom Hayward (Pleb_method)
- Alberto Pérez (Catof_Poker)
- Guillermo Inclan (PokerStarsSpain)
- Steve Enriquez (PokerStarsSpain)
- Benjamin Bruneteaux (PokerStarsFrance)
- Julien Brecard (PokerStarsFrance)
James and Pye both rose to prominence last year during Jason Somerville’s Platinum Pass giveaway searching for the next big Twitch streamer. Along with Hayward, they are known for producing creative and interactive streaming content on Twitch.
The remaining players have risen to prominence in Southern Europe and while they have been producing PokerStars-sponsored content for a while, they are now officially part of the PokerStars family.
According to PokerStars Ambassador Lex Veldhuis, “It’s no secret how much love I have for Twitch and how important I think it is for the growth of poker, ‘m really happy PokerStars is recognizing the effort these streamers are putting in and empowering them on top of that. It will be very inspirational to watch them develop and grind.
There is so much quality out there, not just among the top streamers, but through the whole directory. Whenever I browse through other streamers I’m so impressed with how many good, quality streamers are out there. People with five viewers having a very pleasant lay-out and stream to hang out in. They’re already providing quality to the audience and they’re just getting started.”
PokerStars was one of the first online poker sites to embrace Twitch and it has paid off dividends as it is a great medium to connect with new players and expose them to online poker and the World’s Largest Poker Site.
