NJCOOP Announced Featuring $1 Million in Guarantee and Three Platinum Passes
On Friday, the PokerStars Communication Team sent a press release outlining the details on the upcoming New Jersey Championship of Online Poker (NJCOOP). The two-week event takes place from September 29 to October 15 at PokerStars NJ.
Over the two-week span, over $1.5 million in guarantees will be available on the site with the NJCOOP account for $1 million of the total prizes available.
NJCOOP to Feature Over $1 Million in Guarantees
The NJCOOP will offer events with buy-ins ranging from $25 to $1,000 over multiple variants of poker, including mixed variants such as HORSE and PL Omaha. Regardless of your bankroll, there should be plenty of options available for you. Some of the highlights of the schedule include:
- $500 NL Hold’em Main Event with $150,000 guarantee
- $250 NL Sunday Special with a $60,000 guarantee
- $1,000 NL High Roller with $50,000 Guarantee
According to 2003 WSOP Main Event Champions and PokerStars Ambassador Chris Moneymaker, “I’m looking forward to playing and streaming another great online tournament series in New Jersey with over $1 million in guaranteed prize pools, hoping the recent success from NJSCOOP continues into this tournament series. The Main Event as well as the $86 Moneymaker PSPC Tournament is a great opportunity for New Jersey players to win big and get their hands on a $30,000 PokerStars Platinum Pass.”
Three Platinum Passes to Be Awarded
Over the course of the series, three Platinum Passes will be awarded to players. One will go to the champion of the $86 Moneymaker Tour Event on September 30 while the others will go to the winners of the NJCOOP Main Event Entrants All-in Shootout that will run at both 20:00 ET and 21:00 ET on October 16.
For those that cannot afford the full buy-in, PokerStars NJ will offer satellites for every event in the series starting on September 18 and running throughout the series. Buy-ins for these satellites start at just $1. There will also be daily Second Chance Freerolls available. For those making a deposit, a $10k Main Event Depositor Freeroll will be available.
One added benefit for those playing in the event is the chance to get free tickets to the Second Chance Freeroll. If you play in an NJCOOP event and fail to cash, you’ll get a ticket to the freeroll that awards entries into NJCOOP satellites and events. Second Chance Freerolls run daily at 18:00ET, except for October 15 when it will run at 15:00ET.
For those looking to make a deposit on the just, just make a deposit using NJCOOP prior to 18:59ET on Saturday October 13 to receive a free ticket into the $10k Main Event Depositor Freeroll. This freeroll will award 20 tickets into the $500 Main Event.
Also, there will be Special Edition $4 Spin & Go’s running from September 18 through October 14 that will feature a top prize of a $500 NL Main Event ticket.
Eight Platinum Passes Awarded to Date
According to the press release, there have already been eight Platinum Passes awarded to US players. Two of the most notable winners are pro players David Peters and Maria Konnikova. Konniova won the PCA National Championship event for her pass while Peters won the PCA Wild Card event for his pass.
The PokerStars NJCOOP is one of the largest regulated online tournament series in the United States. It will be interesting to see how this event expands once that Pennsylvania goes online with online poker in 2019. Many feel that PokerStars will network their PA and NJ sites, which would more than double the prospective fields in these events.
Note that you must be physically located within NJ to play in the NJCOOP. You do not have to be a resident of the state. You merely need to be within state borders and have an active Wi-Fi connection that can be verified by PokerStars.
