King’s Resort Reopens – Offering Live Poker Cash Games
As you may already be aware of, some casinos around the world are beginning to reopen. This is a promising sign that we are beginning to turn the corner on this pandemic. One major casino that has reopened is King’s Resort Rozvadov.
King’s Resort is the home of the World Series of Poker Europe and this opening is a good sign that we will see some form of the World Series of Poker in 2020. For now, there will be a ton of restrictions at the casino, including the prohibition of poker tournaments.
King’s Resort Now Open
King’s Resort reported earlier this month that they would reopen on Monday, May 11. The casino has been shut down since May and has been actively looking to reopen since. With the COVID-19 curve finally flattening, many global businesses are beginning to reopen, albeit with many restrictions.
The opening of King’s Resort is no exception. There will be a variety of safety measures in place for both players and casino employees. Some are temporary while others will last for the foreseeable future.
The first is that all players and employees are required to wear masks in all areas of the casino. Face shields will be worn by all employees as well. Next, designated cleaning crews will be stationed around the casino. When a player leaves an area, cleaning personnel will go and disinfect the area.

Next, all food establishments will be shut down inside the casino. Players can go outside and order food and consume it outside. Inside, there will be drinks and food in plastic bags, such as chips, that players can purchase and consume. The restrictions on food will be lifted after 14 days.
Most casino games will be available, along with live poker. However, at this time players can only play poker cash games. Tournaments will not be held at this time, but will likely resume in a few weeks provided the number of new coronavirus cases does not spike.
King’s Did Things the Right Way from the Start
King’s Casino has been one of the few global casinos to continue paying their employees during the pandemic. Many casinos have either furloughed or laid-off employees. King’s Resort has continued to pay employees despite being shut down.
Next, the casino should be commended for doing its reopening the right way. The restrictions in place may be a bit annoying to some, but it should help to keep players and employees safe during this potentially dangerous time.
Good Sign for the 2020 WSOP
The best news of this opening is that live poker has resumed at King’s Resort. This is an important announcement as it could impact the 2020 World Series of Poker. While it is true that poker tournaments are not being held at this time, that should be a short-term prohibition. Expect tournaments to resume by June or July, which is well before the 2020 WSOP Europe would be held.
If anything, this could give WSOP officials a fallback position for the 2020 WSOP that is normally held in Las Vegas. While officials say that the 2020 WSOP will be held in the fall, they didn’t say it would definitely be in Las Vegas. Since the 2020 WSOP Europe is normally in Rozvadov, there is a chance that the two events could be combined. We don’t have any official word on this, but it could be a contingency plan for the series.
For now, we will continue to monitor how the reopening goes and hope that all proceeds well with few incidents. If this reopening is successful and problem-free, it could be a template that other casinos can follow in reopening.
