Kahle Burns Wins Aussie Millions A$100,000 Challenge
Kahle Burns wins again! No, this is not a repeat. Kahle Burns has taken down yet another major high roller, this time at Aussie Millions. Burns took down the A$100,000 Challenge on Thursday for a staggering A$1.76 million.
The win represents just the second seven-figure score of Burns’ career and gives him over $1 million in live earnings for three of the last four years. Burns survived a stacked final table that included All-Time Money List leader Bryn Kenney and 2019 GPI Player of the Year Alex Foxen.
Second Largest $100k Challenge in History
The Aussie Millions $100,000 Challenge is one of the most prestigious high roller events in the world and this year’s edition drew a near-record crowd. A field of 54 entries took to the felt for this one, making it the second-largest $100k Challenge in history.

Alex Foxen led all players after the first day of play and he made the final table along with a murderer’s row of high stakes poker talent. Alex Foxen, Bryn Kenney, and Aaron van Blarcum represented the United States while Timothy Adams was Canada’s lone representative.
Malaysia’s Michael Soyza made the final along with the UK’s Sam Graton. Kahle Burns was the only Aussie at the final table and he was looking for his second win this month.
Bryn Kenney was looking to add to his lead on Poker’s All-Time Money List. He finished fourth in this event, earning $399,433, or nearly 4x his buy-in.
Burns Defeats Foxen Heads-Up for $100k Challenge Title
Aaron van Blarcum is not a well-known name amongst poker fans, but he made a tremendous showing in this event. He managed to work his way to a third-place finish. He was all-in with A-J and Kahle Burns called with K-7. Burns flopped a gutshot straight draw and rivered his straight to send the American to the payout window to collect $508,370.
This led to heads-up play between Alex Foxen and Burns. Burns had nearly a 5:1 chip lead at the start of heads-up play and never relented. Foxen was unable to grow his stack and eventually found himself all-in and dominated for his tournament life.
Foxen had shoved with A-9 and Burns called with A-10. To add insult to injury, Burns flopped a ten. Foxen had a little hope on the turn when a nine fell, but a river queen was enough to give Burns the victory.

Alex Foxen still walked away with A$1.1 million (US$762,740). Kahle Burns became the champion of the 2020 Aussie Millions $100k Challenge. He won the ANTON Jewelry Championship ring along with A$1.74 million. That is about $1.19 million USD. The win is the second-largest win of his tournament poker career and the second win of the month for Burns.
Burns On Pace for Career Year?
After his win at Aussie Millions, Burns now has $1.71 million in earnings for 2019. This is already the third-best year of his tournament poker career. Burns has cashes dating back to 2009 but he didn’t start winning seven-figures annually until 2017.
In 2017, Burns had what appeared to be a breakout year with $1.82 million in earnings. He trumped that in 2019 when he won two WSOP bracelets at the 2019 WSOP Europe and earned $4.36 million on the year.
With $1.7 million in earnings this year, Burns could be on pace for another career year in poker. Granted, those numbers are a bit skewed since he plays primarily in high roller tournaments. Tournament earnings don’t factor the number of buy-ins taken by players.
With high roller events regularly in the $25k to $100k range, Burns win at Aussie Millions may only serve to allow him to freeroll in a few events. Regardless, it will be interesting to see how Burns performs for the rest of 2020.
