Fifteen Events Confirmed for 2020 World Series of Poker

2020 WSOP

Recently, WSOP officials announced that the 2020 World Series of Poker will run from May 26 through July 15, 2020. At the time of the announcement, they only confirmed a couple of events.

A few days passed and WSOP officials released additional details for the 2020 WSOP, confirming 15 events for the Summer poker series. Most of the confirmed events are legacy events you see each year. However, one confirmed event has a notable change.

Fifteen Events Now Confirmed

WSOP officials have confirmed a total of 15 events for the 2020 WSOP schedule. All events confirmed are repeat events and legacy events from past years. The first confirmed event is the Casino Employees Even that will kick off the series on May 27th. Like in recent years, the event will feature a single re-entry.

Other confirmed events include the Seniors Event on June 18th, the Super Seniors Event on June 22nd and the Ladies NL Hold’em Championship on June 17th.

Some of the more gimmicky events that have been confirmed include the Millionaire Maker, the Monster Stack, and the Colossus. The Mini-Main Event proved very popular in 2019 and will return in 2020, kicking off on June 29th.

The Little One for One Drop also returns for another year, kicking off on July 4th. Like last year, The Closer will kick off on July 10th.

WSOP Schedule

According to WSOP VP Jack Effel, “While we are still putting together the 2020 WSOP schedule in its entirety, we have cemented the key No-Limit Hold’em events that anchor it al. We hope this announcement right before the holidays can help you lock in travel plans so you can join us at the Rio in Las Vegas for the 51st running of the WSOP. We will continue to fill out the rest of the schedule and provide updates as we progress.”

Tag Team Event Has Key Change

The $1,000 Tag Team Event is one of the 15 events confirmed for the 2020 WSOP. This year’s event will be a bit different as teams will be limited to two players. In the past, teams could have up to four players.

This event is a freezeout poker tournament event with 20,000 in starting chips and 60-minute levels. Generally, each team member must play at least one full level each day. It is unclear at this time as to why teams have been reduced to just two players, but it should make for simpler reporting for those covering the event.

Complete Schedule Still Forthcoming

As already hinted at by Effel, WSOP officials are still finalizing the schedule for the 2020 WSOP. The schedule is expected to be released at some point during the first quarter of 2020. It is unknown at this time how many events will be on the schedule, but based on last year, don’t be surprised to see between 90 and 100 bracelet events.

WSOP events have buy-in for all bankroll levels, ranging from $300 all the way to $100,000. Players will be able to win their way into events via live or online satellites. WSOP.com in Nevada and Delaware will both feature satellites and there is a chance that WSOP PA will be online by then.

If you are looking to attend the 2020 WSOP, it is not too early to book your rooms. Room rates start as cheap as $33 at hotels away from the RIO. You can also find deals all around Las Vegas at non-Caesars properties, including those in Downtown Las Vegas. For those with transportation or don’t mind paying for a cab, that may prove the best option.

Stay tuned as we will keep you informed of all upcoming events for the 2020 World Series of Poker.
