David Peters Wins ARIA Fall Madness $100k High Roller for $1.1 Million
David Peters has taken down yet another seven-figure score in a high roller event, this time at the ARIA Fall Madness event in Las Vegas. One of the game’s most prolific players, Peters took down his fifth seven-figure score of 2018 after winning the $100k High Roller event at the last ARIA tournament series before the Super High Roller Bowl.
With the win, Peters also moved up to #2 on the High Roller of the Year list, locking up a seat in the upcoming Super High Roller Bowl V in December.
Peters Wins $100k High Roller for $1.1 Million
The ARIA Fall Poker Madness series concluded this past week at the ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The headline event for the series was the $100k NL High Roller. The event drew a solid field of 24 entries to create a prize pool of $2.4 million.
With just four players receiving a payday in this one, first place was due to earn $1.1 million. The final four of the event came down between four well-known players in Ben Tollerene, Jake Schindler, Rick Salomon, and David Peters.
Tollerene ultimately finished fourth, doubling his buy-in for a $240k payday. Schindler was next out in third, earning $384k in the process. Heads-up was between Rick Salomon and David Peters with Salomon taking a 2:1 chip lead into heads-up play.

Salomon had Peters all-in and behind heads-up but Peters’ A-9 managed to outrun Salomon’s A-K and that began a momentum shift into Peter’s favor. Soon, he took the chip lead and ultimately the match. Salomon fell short of the victory but ended up earning $672k for second place.
David Peters just missed out on the $100k High Roller at the 2018 WSOP Europe last month, finishing in second. This time, he was able to come back from a 2:1 deficit heads-up to win the event and a hefty $1.1 million top prize.
As stated earlier, this was the fifth seven-figure score by Peters in 2018, giving him $9.03 million in 2018 earnings. This eclipses his career year of 2016 when he earned $7.95 million. Also, this win moves Peters up to #7 on Poker’s All-Time Money List. He has a combined $27.81 million.

At the rate that Peters is winning, he will overtake Dan Colman for #5 on the list sometime in 2019 and join Fedor Holz, Erik Seidel, Daniel Negreanu, and Justin Bonomo as the only people in poker history with more than $30 million in live poker tournament earnings.
Peters Now #2 in High Roller of the Year Race
Peters’ victory in the $100k High Roller gave him enough points to move up to second place in the race for High Roller of the Year. Prior to ARIA Fall Madness, he was fourth overall but his performance in this event helped him to move up to second ahead of Cary Katz and Justin Bonomo.
Peters still trails Sam Soverel for the top spot heading into December’s Super High Roller Bowl. He needs 145 points to catch Soverel and with the way he is playing, he may be one of the only players that can do so.
The top five players atop the High Roller of the Year list will receive a free $300,000 entry into the Super High Roller Bowl next month. Dan Smith, Justin Bonomo, and Cary Katz are the other players presently scheduled to take a seat in the event next month.
As recently announced by Poker Central, the Super High Roller Bowl will bring an early end to the High Roller of the Year race with the person atop the list crowned the first-ever High Roller of the Year. Points will then reset and the race will run throughout 2019 with Super High Roller Bowl VI ending next year’s race.
