David Peters Wins $1.11 Million at Triton Super High Roller Jeju
David Peters added another seven-figure score to his resume on Friday after taking down the HK$500,000 NL Six-Max Event at the 2018 Triton Super High Roller Series Jeju. Peters outlasted a field of 39 entries to take down the title and $1.1 million.
He had to earn this victory though as the final three in this event included Stephen Chidwick and Steve O’Dwer. This was Peters’ second seven-figure score of the year and gets him in striking distance of Phil Hellmuth on Poker’s All-Time Money List.
David Peters Beats Stephen Chidwick and Steve O’Dwyer En Route to Victory
The final table of the HK$500,000 NL Six-Max Event played out on Wednesday with just four players taking home a payday. There was a lot of action on the bubble with Luc Greenwood struggling to try and build a stack.
Ultimately, he was all-in on a flop of Ad-10h-7h with Kh-9h but Stephen Chidwick made the call with Ah-Qh. He was in deep trouble, drawing to running straight cards or running nines. He caught a 6d on the turn for one of his straight cards, but a river 8h gave Chidwick the nut flush and Greenwood was out on fifth.
It didn’t take long before the event was down to three players. Chow Hing Yang went out in third when his pocket nines were outdrawn by the A-Q of Steve O’Dwyer. O’Dwyer had a solid chip lead at this point, but David Peters managed to double through him with pocket nines to pull his stack nearly even with O’Dwyers.
Stephen Chidwick was the short stack at this point but a single double could give him the chip lead. Chidwick decided to three-bet shove from the small blind with As-3d and O’Dwyer made the call with pocket fours. The fours managed to hold to send Chidwick out in third, good for HK$2.95 million (US $372,686).
At the start of heads-up play, O’Dwyer had exactly a 2:1 chip lead over Peters, but Peters quickly went into the lead after a big flush-over-flush confrontation. They went back and forth a bit with the stacks nearly even at the start of the final hand.
In the final hand, Peters rivered a queen-high straight at the same time that O’Dwyer made top pair. Peters checked and O’Dwyer shoved, which led to a snap call from Peters and the win. Steve O’Dwyer earned HK$5.85 million (US $745,372)

David Peters earned his second seven-figure score of 2018 in this event, winning HK$ 8.77 million (US $1.11 million). Peters apparently missed both of the Short Deck NL events leading to this, but things worked out as he earned another $1 million payday.
Peters To Take Over 13th on Poker’s All-Time Money List Soon
With this victory, David Peters has $22.79 million in career earnings. He is just $17,984 from wresting 13th away from Phil Hellmuth. Peters is in the middle of his second-best year as a live pro, already having earned more than $4 million this year.
Peters started the year off strong with three deep runs at the US Poker Open. He made two final tables and won the Event #7 for $400,000. He then won an ARIA High Roller event in March for $202,500.
Peters earned the first of two seven-figure scores at the Super High Roller Bowl China where he finished seventh for $1.11 million. While he didn’t have much success at the 2018 WSOP, he did manage a second-place finish in a $25k ARIA High Roller near the end of June for a $150k score.
Peters still has a way to go to top his career-best year of 2016 where he won just shy of $8 million. Of course, there’s still plenty of poker to play, so anything can happen.
