Dates for 2020 World Series of Poker Revealed

2020 WSOP

For those of you looking to plan your trip to the 2020 World Series of Poker, we can now verify the dates of the series. Last week, WSOP officials announced that the 2020 WSOP will run from May 26 through July 15, 2020, at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

This will be the 51st running of the World Series of Poker and organizers hope to set new records for attendance and overall prize money. Presently, we only can confirm three events on the WSOP schedule, but those three events are among the most popular at the series.

Series to Open With Big 50

The first of three events confirmed in last week’s press release was the Big 50. Last year, the Big 50 set an all-time attendance record for a single event. Last year, 28,371 entries were collected in the event to set the record and the event will return to the 2020 WSOP.

The next version of the Big 50 will run the first weekend of the series with starting flights held from May 28th through May 31st. It will be interesting to see whether this event will be able to set a new record for attendance or if numbers will retract similar to other gimmick events held in the past by the WSOP.

Seniors Championship Confirmed

There are some events we know will be staples of the series. The Employees Event, the Ladies Event, and the Seniors Event are all among them. However, for this announcement, only the dates of the Seniors Championship were confirmed.

The $1,000 Seniors World Championship will be held on June 18th and will feature a single re-entry. Last year, the event drew 5,916 entries. It still holds the record for the largest field for a single-day start. This event is open to all players aged 50 and over and the field is always full of past bracelet winners such as Phil Hellmuth, Johnny Chan, and many more.

Main Event to Run From July 1 Through 14

The last event confirmed in this announcement is the 2020 WSOP Main Event. The 2020 Main Event will run from July 1st through July 14 and will feature three starting flights. Players can enter on July 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

Players who advance through Day 1a will return on July 4th to play Day 2a and those that advance through Day 1b or 1c will return on July 5th to play Day 2b. Like last year, players can late register into the Main Event up until the end of Level 6. Since Day 1 consists of just 5 levels, players have until the end of the first level on July 5th.

Action will continue until the final table is reached on July 10th. There is presently an off day scheduled for July 11th and the final table will play out from July 12th through 14th 2020.

Win Your Seat in NJ or NV Online

As has been the case for the last three years, players will be able to win their way into WSOP events online in both New Jersey and Nevada. WSOP.com will offer World Series of Poker satellites for both standard bracelet events and the WSOP Main Event.

Both single-table and multi-table satellites will be offered for players playing at WSOP.com NJ or WSOP.com NV. If WSOP.com launches in Pennsylvania prior to the start of the 2020 WSOP, you can also expect satellites to be offered there.

For those going to Las Vegas, satellites will be offered around the clock at the Rio. Most will be offered in NL format with a few non-Hold’em satellites being offered generally the day before and the day of non-Hold’em events.
