Damian Salas Wins International WSOP Main Event Final Table

The final table for the international leg of the 2020 WSOP Main Event kicked off on Monday at Kings Casino in Rozvadov. Heading into the final table, Brunno Botteon held a sizable lead over the rest of the field. However, there was one player who had experience at the Main Event final table.

Damian Salas of Argentina was a former WSOP Main Event final tablist, finishing 7th at the 2017 WSOP Main Event. This time around, he started the final table third in chips. By the time play reached three-handed, Salas had managed to take the chip lead.

Manuel Ruivo was the third-place finisher at the final table. He was all-in after flopping two pair against a flush draw for Salas. Salas would river his flush to knock out Ruivo and set up a heads-up battle with Botteon.

At the start of heads-up play, Salas had a 10 million chip lead over Botteon. However, Botteon stormed back to take the chip lead briefly. Once Salas regained the chip lead, he never trailed again. A big straight over straight hand gave Salas the lead and he steadily gained traction.

The final hand was a doozy. At the river, the board was Kc-4c-2h-6h-8c. Botteon immediately went all-in, effectively representing a flush. After taking for a couple of minutes, Salas made the call. Botteon conceded that he was caught and turned over 7h-3h for a complete bluff. Salas showed Kd-8h for two pair.

Botteon finished in second place, earning $1.06 million. Damian Salas is the official winner of the international leg of the WSOP Main Event. He won $1.55 million and will take part in the heads-up finale on December 30th.

Joseph Hebert Leads American WSOP Main Event Final Table

Upeshka De Silva was the overall chip leader at the start of Day 2 and he did manage to make the final table. However, he will start the final table as the second shortest stack. De Silva is a three-time WSOP bracelet winner. To win his fourth, he will have to make a helluva comeback at the final table as he’s starting with just 13.5 big blinds

The overall chip leader heading into the final table is Joseph Hebert. He starts the final with 13.05 million. His next closest competitor, Shawn Stroke, has just 5.25 million.
The final table will play out at the Rio in Las Vegas on December 28th. The winner will earn $1.55 million and a seat in the heads-up finale.
