Brandon Adams and Shawn Buchanan Win ONLINE WSOP Bracelets
The World Series of Poker is winding down to a conclusion but there is still a full week of play left on the schedule. Some events that have largely gone unnoticed are the ONLINE bracelet events.
Recently, two big names have managed to win WSOP bracelets via ONLINE bracelet events. Brandon Adams took down his first career WSOP bracelet on July 3rd while Shawn Buchanan managed to break through for his first career title this past Sunday.
Brandon Adams Wins First Career Bracelet in $3,200 High Roller
Brandon Adams has made a name for himself in recent years in the high roller circuit, so it is fitting that his first WSOP bracelet win would be in a high roller. On July 3rd, Brandon Adams took down the $3,200 WSOP.com ONLINE High Roller event for his first bracelet and $411,560 in prize money.
The event drew a strong field of 434 entries to create a prize pool of $1.8 million. While the buy-in isn’t exactly high roller by live event standards, for WSOP.com events, it is a big buy-in event. As such, it was no shock that the final table was stacked with big name talent.
Two bracelet winners made the final table. Two-time bracelet winner Norbert Szecsi, aka “BALKAN500”, made the final table and ultimately finished in sixth place. Two-time champion Calvin Anderson, aka “projector52,” also made the final, but finished in fourth place.
Ultimately, it was Brandon “Dr Octagon” Adams facing Nabil Mohamed Abdien Cardoso, aka “thebrownbear”, for the title. It didn’t take long for the Cardoso to get his stack into the middle as he woke up with pocket tens pre-flop. Adams woke up with pocket queens and made the easy call. The board failed to produce a ten and Cardoso finished runner-up, earning $253,642.70.
This was Adams’ first WSOP bracelet win, adding yet another impressive accomplishment to his career poker resume.

Shawn Buchanan Wins First Bracelet in $800 Six-Max
Shawn Buchanan has been a runner-up multiple times over the years at the World Series of Poker but has never broken through for a bracelet – at least until this past Sunday. On Sunday, Buchanan took down the $800 WSOP.com ONLINE NL Hold’em 6-Handed Event for his first career title. Playing as “bucky21,” Buchanan also won $223,119 in prize money.
The event drew a field of 1,560 entries to create a prize pool of $1.17 million. The final table of this one was also a stacked one that included Barry Hutter, aka “puigmyfriend,” along with Lauren Roberts, aka “sycamore22,” and David Baker, aka “Youngpitts.”
By the time heads-up play was reached, it was Buchanan leading Baker 15.13 million to 8.26 million. Buchanan jumped out to a 10 million chip lead before Baker nearly evened the stacks after flopping quads. The event then ended quickly in a massive flip between the two players.
A raising war ensured pre-flop with Buchanan eventually shoving with pocket jacks and Baker calling with Ac-10s. The board failed to produce an ace or ten and Buchanan finally won his first career WSOP gold bracelet.
Bracelet num 1 was a long time coming but I found the recipe for success to close the deal!So I apologize in advice to my next live @wsop final table-I will be in my boxers-shirt off-eating banana split ice cream-and trash talking each and every 1 of you as I bust you !#cantwait

Just One Online Bracelet Event Remains on the Schedule
The final ONLINE bracelet event of the summer will kick off on Sunday with the $500 WSOP.com ONLINE NL Hold’em Summer Saver Event. It will be the 88th event on the schedule and will likely produce another strong field to close out the summer. Expect the field to be littered with pros that are looking for one last shot to win a bracelet before the end of the summer and others looking for a cheap way to try and win a WSOP bracelet.
The online bracelet events have been popular this Summer and that’s partially due to New Jersey players being able to still play on the interstate online poker network. A federal judge recently ruled that the Wire Act only applies to sports betting and the DOJ delayed prosecution regarding the new Wire Act opinion while they try and appeal this ruling.
It will be interesting to see how many players come out for this final online event and what happens in the upcoming months as it will have a major impact on the future of the interstate online poker network and future online bracelet events.
