Ali Imsirovic Wins Back-to-Back Poker Masters Titles – Virtually Locks Up Purple Jacket
Ali Imsirovic has all but wrapped up the race for the Poker Masters Purple Jacket after taking back-to-back event. Imsirovic won Event #5 and Event #6 to take a solid lead heading into the Main Event. Only a handful of people can catch him at this point, and that list was narrowed even further by the end of Day 1 of the Poker Masters Main Event.
Ali Imsirovic Wins Event #5 and Event #6
As this series has already proved, high rollers tend to go on streaks with Brandon Adams making the final table of the first three events. Ali Imsirovic has now went on his own streak, but this one consisting of two wins.
The first of two wins occurred on Wednesday when he took down Event #5, the $25,000 NL Event for $462,000. He has to survive a final table that included Daniel Negreanu, Ben Yu, Brian Rast, Jake Schindler, and Jason Koon.
Imsirovic knocked out four of five opponents at the final table, including Ben Yu heads-up to win the title and $462,000. After the win, Imsirovic was tied for third for the Purple Jacket race. He finished eights in the opening event and picked up what then seemed an inconsequential 60 points.

After his win on Wednesday, the told Poker Central, “Winning the Poker Masters would be like winning the World Series of Poker Main Event to me because I play poker to become the best, and a win like this would make me feel as though I’m getting there.”
Following his win in Event #5, Imsirovic jumped into Event #6 and rode the momentum of his win to his second straight final table that played out on Thursday. Jake Schindler made his second straight final table as well, joining Koray Aldemir, Seth Davies, Justin Bonomo, and Bryn Kenney.
Imsirovic had over half the chips in play at the start of the final table and continued to crush. However, heads-up proved a bit of a challenge against Koray Aldemir. He managed to play tough and took the chip lead multiple times. Ultimately, Imsirovic regained control and proceeded to win his second straight event, this time for $799,000.

After his second straight win, he told Poker Central, “I’ve dreamt about winning the Poker Masters Purple Jacket, but I never thought this would be possible. Right now I don’t want to think about it, because I don’t want to be let down too much if I don’t end up winning it.”
Imsirovic Can Only Be Caught by Four Players in the Main Event
At present, Ali Imsirovic has 660 total points, leading Brandon Adams by 150 points in the race for the Poker Masters Purple Jacket. Only four players have enough points to catch him, and that’s assuming they win the event outright. Here’s the list of top five in points:
- Ali Imsirovic – 660
- Brandon Adams – 510
- Isaac Haxton – 480
- Jake Schindler – 390
- Ben Yu – 360
However, this all may become a moot point depending on who decides to show up at the beginning of Day 2 of the Main Event. None of the players in contention are presently still in the event and Imsirovic is fifth in chips with eight left.
Back-to-back wins move @aliImsirovic to the top of the #PokerMasters Championship Standings. Heading into the $100K Main Event, only @badams78, @ikepoker, @Jake__Schindler, and @benyupoker can catch him!

Late registration is still open, so those still in contention can still buy-in. However, at this point, unless Haxton or Adams buys in and wins the event outright, there seems little chance of anyone catching Imsirovic for the Purple Jacket.
Event #7, the $100,000 Main Event, continues on Friday and will play to the final table. On Saturday, they will play to a winner. The prize pool will not be announced until after late registration closes on Friday.
