Alex Foxen Wins LA Poker Classic $25,000 High Roller – Maria Ho Third
Alex Foxen has been on a tear in recent months. After finishing 2nd in the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic Main Event in December, he went on to just miss the final table of the PokerStars Championship Prague later that month.
On Tuesday, Foxen took down the $25,000 LA Poker Classic Rockstar Energy High Roller for the second largest score of his young poker career. Nick Petrangelo finished second with Maria Ho coming in third.
Foxen Crushes Final Table En Route to Victory
The final table of this event kicked off on Tuesday with Alex Foxen soundly in the chip lead. Joining him at the final table were Sam Panzica, Maria Ho, Eli Berg, Isaac Baron and Nick Petrangelo.
Foxen knocked out four of his five final opponents. Maria Ho was looking to add her first High Roller title to her resume but fell short in third place. She tried to run over Foxen with Ah-5h but ran into pocket nines.
Heads-up between Foxen and Petrangelo was a lopsided affair with Foxen holding a 7:1 chip lead. It didn’t take long for him to finish of Petrangelo and Foxen took the title and $424,625.
Foxen Making Successful Transition to Live Play
Foxen has been called a rising star in poker by PokerNews and it’s easy to see why. Playing as SloogeLuge online, he has amassed over $1.8 million with his biggest win coming in 2015 after taking down a $700 NL Ante UP SCOOP Event on PokerStars.
Foxen has live results dating back to 2012 but he really started taking off in 2017. He put together over $1.7 million in earnings last year, including his runner-up WPT finish. Presently, Foxen has over $2.25 million in live tournament earnings along with one WSOP Circuit ring title.
The NY native is quickly rising the ranks, already 39th on the New York All-Time Money List. It appears that he’s beginning to hit his stride, making him a player to watch for the foreseeable future.
