In case you haven’t been paying attention, WSOP officials have been piece-mealing the schedule for the 2020 World Series of Poker. This time around, the schedule of high roller events has been released for public consumption.

The 2020 WSOP will feature nine events that can be considered high rollers. Events range in buy-in from $25,000 all the way to $250,000. This is just the latest event to dedicate a large chunk of their schedule to high rollers.

WSOP Releases High Roller Schedule

On Wednesday, WSOP officials announced that there will be nine high roller events spread out amongst the 2020 WSOP schedule. The first event will kick off on May 29 and is a $25,000 NL High Roller. On May 31, the $25,000 Heads-Up NL Hold’em Event kicks off. This will replace the $10k Heads-Up Championship and will have a field capped at 64 players.

This schedule will feature three $25k buy-in events and four $50k buy-in events. The annual $50,000 Poker Player’s Championship is included in this schedule. Two events will venture into six-figure buy-in territory.

On June 27, the $250,000 Super High Roller will kick-off. This is the first time the WSOP has held a high roller in this price range. The other six-figure buy-in event is the $100,000 NL High Roller on July 11th.

According to WSOP Vice President Jack Effel, “We have something for everyone on the 2020 World Series of Poker schedule and the high rollers are no exception. The High Roller Series are great spectacles for the fans and a challenging series of events is sure to bring out the game’s best and those looking to take them on.”

No Mixed Game High Roller Outside the PPC

Unfortunately, this event only features a single mixed game high roller. The Poker Player’s Championship is the only poker tournament featuring non-flop games. Six of the high roller events are NL Hold’em Events while the other two are PL Omaha.

While it is true that NL Hold’em and PLO are the two formats that produce the largest fields, there are still plenty of pros and mixed game specialists out there that would play in a $25k Mixed Game High Roller. The WSOP is one time where the elite mixed game players actually show up for tournaments. It is a bit sad that the WSOP isn’t taking advantage of this audience.

If they didn’t want to do a Mixed Game or Dealer’s Choice event, they could do a Big Bet High Roller and include games like NL 2-7, PL 5 Card Draw, and PLO 8. It’s not like the WSOP has a problem with adding additional events. Last year’s schedule was over 100 events and the same appears to be happening this year.

Expect the WSOP to continue releasing chunks of the schedule over the next two to four weeks before finalizing the schedule. Below is a complete schedule of high roller events directly from WSOP.com.
